Landscaping with Palms, Flower Beds, and Drainage
Landscape Designer: Zach Fuchs
Landscape Installation Foreman: Alex Markowski
Project Overview
We provided landscaping enhancements for this Neptune Beach homeowner, including replacing three large palms, improving raised beds, planting along the fence, and drainage. Landscape Designer Zach Fuchs met with the homeowners and developed a landscape design that met their wants and desires. While these clients are avid gardeners, much of what they wanted to be accomplished was beyond their abilities and would require heavy equipment and some hard work under Florida’s hot July sun.
Front Yard
Landscape Foreman Alex Markowski led the landscape design installation process. Two large declining Queen Palms were removed in the front yard and replaced with two six-foot clear-trunk Phoenix sylvestris. These large specimens were secured by wooden staking kits that will keep the palms growing straight and protect them from high wind events common in hurricane season. Rockaway’s policies and procedures include the removal of the stakes after one year of installation. There was likewise a Pygmy Date Palm, Phoenix roebelenii, in declining health by the front door, which was replaced with a young, healthy triple trunk specimen. Red fountain grass was planted along the stretch of the privacy fence in the front yard for added curb appeal, which will enhance the aesthetics at night with the clients’ landscape lighting.
