Shining Bright: Seabroz Dads Illuminate Lives at Seabreeze Elementary
In the heart of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, a group of dads is making waves not just as fathers, but as community builders. The Seabroz dads, a newly formed initiative at Seabreeze Elementary School, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, is on a mission to fill a void, bringing more male role models into the lives of students and fostering a vibrant school environment.
“We noticed a few years ago that there weren’t as many dads involved as we would have liked,” explains Keith Luber, a Seabroz member. “That’s when we knew we had to take action.”
Their first spark was a simple gathering in the school cafeteria with six dads. What started as a small initiative quickly grew, fueled by the power of community. Today, the Seabroz boast a mailing list of 75 members, all eager to contribute their time and talents.
Their inaugural event, “Night of Lights,” is a testament to their dedication. This festive celebration brought the whole community together for an evening of twinkling lights, holiday cheer, and most importantly, connection. Rockaway & Burghardt Christmas Tradition were honored to support the event with the Christmas tree as the centerpiece, ready to be illuminated by the combined efforts of students, parents, and Seabroz alike.
But the impact of the Seabroz goes far beyond festive nights. “It’s about more than just events,” Keith emphasizes. “It’s about building relationships, providing support, and being that positive male presence that many kids lack.” He recalls his own childhood, the void left by his father’s absence, and how community figures like coaches and teachers stepped in to fill that gap. “Every kid needs a male role model in their life, someone they can look up to,” he says. “That’s what we’re striving to be.”
And the ripple effect is already spreading. The Seabroz are reaching out to neighboring schools, offering guidance and support to help establish similar groups. Their collaboration with the Carver Center promises to extend their reach beyond the school walls, further enriching the Jacksonville Beach community.
The Seabroz story is one of inspiration, dedication, and the transformative power of community. By harnessing the strength of their network, they’re not just illuminating Seabreeze Elementary, but also paving the way for a brighter future, one filled with hope, support, and the guiding light of positive male role models.
