Laura Massey, a Jacksonville artist, gardener, and homeowner in the Wood community, utilizes Rockaway for all her lawn maintenance, irrigation, and landscaping needs. Recently, Massey had the Rockaway landscaping team headed by Alex Markowski create a second secret garden in her backyard, including a weeping willow planting inspired by Massey’s trip to Europe. Extensive tear-out and ongoing maintenance of bamboo and invasive Kudzu vine were choking out other plants, such as vast stands of Philodendron selloum that are now flourishing with room to grow. Fresh mulch was installed within the secret gardens and flower beds throughout the property, including an area where Massey plans to build a glass window framed She Shed Art Studio.
At Rockaway, we cherish working with clients who appreciate plants and landscaping as much as we do. “All the plants and everything will be my inspiration for my watercolors, and up close landscapes, and also my portraits,” Massey said. “My gardening has always been so important to me. It’s my inspiration for my painting and it just plain makes me happy. I’ve been through at least four or five different lawn services and had to go from one thing to the other just to get things that needed to be done. Rockaway, they do my lawn and my irrigation, fertilization, and landscaping and I’m very happy with them. They’re the best.”
